Welcome To St John Vianney

A Catholic day school for pupils with autism, learning difficulties and complex needs.

St. John Vianney Roman Catholic School in Firswood is Salford Dioceses’ Special Needs Provision. Both Mr. McLoughlin and I are incredibly proud and honoured to be the present Acting, Head Teachers.

We benefit enormously from leading a hard-working, highly skilled and professional staff whose primary concern is to prepare our wonderful pupils and young adults to become independent learners.

We are an Ofsted graded good school, (Ofsted Inspection September 2017).

Everybody at our school is valued .Whether pupil, teacher, TA, Site supervisor, Admin, Cooks or parents all are respected. All stakeholders are intrinsically invaluable to our pupils’ succeeding. Whatever the needs of our pupils and whatever special interests they have, we aim to ensure that our pupils thrive, feel safe, have fun and enjoy success no matter how small.

We work in partnership with parents, carers and external agencies to provide the best education for all, ensuring that all have the very best outcomes and make good progress

It is our goal and our vision for all our children and young adults to achieve positive outcomes. We cater for children and young people aged from 5 to 19 years of age, with learning difficulties, communication difficulties and those on the Autistic Spectrum. Our aim is to engage all in learning through outstanding and creative teaching, supporting all on their faith journey wherever that may be.

Being a Catholic School we are founded on the Gospel values where children and young people are encouraged to live their faith and lead responsible lives.

Our Chair of Governors, Father Byrne and our resident priest Father Patrick work tirelessly to ensure our pupils’ are supported academically, emotionally and spiritually in the best possible way. Father Patrick leads half termly masses in our chapel and all are welcome. Father Patrick works closely with Mrs. Garfin who leads our Chaplaincy Team which is made up of children from different year groups and they support the religious worship of the school and all our pupil’s faith journeys.

I hope to meet you during the year at our many events or meetings.

Mr. D J James BA, (Hons), PGCE, NPQH
