If your child is in Key Stage Two they will placed in one of the three classes in Key Stage Two.  All of the classes are located in the Rainbow Building which is where all of the Primary aged children are taught.  Your child will spend the majority of their time in this building and they will have access to their own playground throughout the school day.

All classes have interactive whiteboards in the classrooms and classes have access to Ipads and Laptops.   The children in Key Stage Two are able to use the Sensory Rooms in the Rainbow Building.

The children are grouped into mixed aged classes according to individual needs and the classes follow the National Curriculum at the appropriate level with a multi sensory approach to meet individual needs.  Developing the children’s social skills are paramount to everything we do during the school day.

The children have the opportunity to work with the Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist if needed and other professionals that work on the Multi Agency team if needed.

The children in Key Stage Two will experience extra curricular activities for example, if your child is in lower Key Stage Two they will visit a soft play area help develop gross motor skills, social skills and to help promote healthy an active lifestyle as well as local parks. The children in upper Key Stage 2 have the opportunity to go cycling on a Friday afternoon.  All Key Stage Two children go swimming on a weekly basis.

We like to build positive working relationships with our parents/carers.  We encourage you to communicate in the Home/School diary and if you need to ring to speak to a member of the team we are always available.  Staff also use Class Dojo to communicate with parents/carers.  We would prefer non-urgent phone calls to be made before school starts or after school finishes.

We endeavour to make your child’s time at Saint John Vianney a happy and enjoyable experience.
