A Roman Catholic day school for pupils with autism, learning difficulties and complex needs.

Welcome to our School website. I am honoured to be the Headteacher of St John Vianney RC School and the unique environment we are able to offer the children and young people who attend our school.

Our recent Ofsted report (2023) reflected that ‘pupils enjoy coming to school. They are happy and proud to be part of the St John Vianney family.’ The report also identified that ‘staff have high expectations of pupils. They know every pupil well and support them to achieve and behave well. Every individual is valued for who they are.’ The School’s curriculum and enrichment offer was highly complimented, as was the culture of reading and literacy that has been established. Inspectors told us our ‘pupils achieve well’ and described the School ‘as a second home’.

Our most recent Section 48 Inspection judged the School to be ‘outstanding’ and the key strengths were summarised very accurately in the report;

  • A truly inclusive school community, which seeks to meet the academic, emotional and social needs of the pupils which are significantly diverse and complex.
  • A highly positive school ethos built on Gospel values and high-quality relationships between pupils and staff, which results in a strong sense of togetherness.
  • An exceptionally strong pastoral system for all pupils led by caring and dedicated staff, which manifests itself in genuine love for the pupils at St John Vianney, especially those with the greatest need.
  • Highly effective partnerships with parents and carers, which ensure that St John Vianney is a special place to be.

We are thrilled with the journey of development we have undertaken in the last few years and it is especially pleasing that outside visitors to St John Vianney also feel so positively about our offer.

We pride ourselves on being a happy, caring and welcoming community, where the learning environment and the wide range of opportunities offered, help every child reach their full potential.

Our dedicated and committed team of staff and governors work closely together to make sure that the children in our care are a respected part of our Christian community, one where they feel valued and secure.

I look forward to meeting with you in the near future and working with you to ensure St John Vianney is the only choice of SEND provision for your child. If you would like any further information or to make a visit to school, please do not hesitate to contact me or any member of the staff team.
