In July 2023 The School was given the prestigious Laudato Si award from CAFOD reflecting the School’s plans to Live Simply. This is a fantastic achievement by the School, who were able to demonstrate their collective work in Living sustainably, simply and in solidarity with the World’s poorest communities.

‘Dear Mr Moloney,
Following your LiveSimply Award assessment, with our assessor, during which you and your pupils shared the actions you have been participating in to demonstrate how you have been living simply, sustainably and in solidarity with the world’s poorest communities, we have great pleasure in confirming St John Vianney School has achieved the LiveSimply award. This is a fantastic achievement, and we warmly congratulate you, your pupils, and your staff team.
Your award plaque has been ordered and will be sent direct to your school. We hope you will be able to display it in a prominent place somewhere on your school premises.
In compiling the report, we note there is much to commend. Your school has developed and implemented a good LiveSimply programme based on faith and making the actions real for pupils. The children shared that they need to care for our planet and for others because that is what Jesus would have done. There is a really strong chaplaincy team of children and staff who develop liturgy and ensure that faith links with actions. One key strength of your work is the partnerships the school has made with organisations locally and with a school in Ghana to make the actions tangible for children and we very much appreciated your support of CAFOD World Gifts.’
The Assessor said “The children and staff in the school live their faith by caring for our world and those in need. They have developed strong partnerships within and outside the school and through their living simply, sustainably and in solidarity actions they are making a real difference in their school, local community and throughout the world”.
